College Industrial Technology(CIT)


History
The college started as an Industrial Arts Department of the Albay Elementary School and was absorbed as a vocational department of Albay High School, later converted into the Albay Trade School offering courses in the Elementary Level. By virtue of R.A. 1129, the Albay Trade School was converted into the Bicol Regional School of Arts and Trades. It was in December 22, 1995, by virtue of Board Resolution No.41, series 1995 the School of Arts and Trades became the College of Industrial Technology, Bicol University.

Mission
The aforecited vision is rooted in Bicol University’s mandate as provided in RA 5521 which is “to give professional and technical training and provide advanced and specialized instruction in literature, philosophy, the science and arts, besides providing for the promotion of technological researches, (sec.3).” Hence, the BU graduates shall be distinguished by their industry, nationalism and integrity. Along its line, extension service to the community and resource generation through its various productive endeavors shall complement the University’s mandated instruction-research function.





Goals
1. Provide relevant and responsive, higher and advanced education and training to ensure employability of graduates in their respective professions;
2. Intensify technological and scientific researches, adoption, transfer and commercialization of technologies;
3. Increase resource generation capability through production of technologies, utilization of resources and academe-based entrepreneurial undertakings;
4. Strengthen the competence and commitment of the faculty by providing continuing in-service training programs, staff development, and upgrading of skills through industrial immersion;
5. Pursue a high level of standard for all curricular programs through accreditation and periodic evaluation.
